She's covered sports for one of the largest media outlets across the globe. She reported on basketball, football and Grand Slam Tennis for The Washington Post. Nichols was awarded two Emmy Awards during her nine-year period at ESPN as well as being featured on some of its most watched shows like NFL Countdown or SportsCenter, moved to ESPN after 2004. Additionally, she was an on-line reporter for Monday Night Football broadcasts. After leaving ABC, her following station was CNN and Turner Sports. The show she first created and hosted was her own show, Unguarded featuring Rachel Nichols, and aired regularly on CNN as well as CNN International. Over a billion viewers watched the show across the globe. At the time, Nichols was a reporter for TNT's NBA broadcasts including regular season, playoffs, and All-Star broadcast teams. Also, she reported for TBS covering baseball and golf broadcasts, and Final Four broadcasts on CBS. Only the second woman has been picked from over 200 nominees over the 42-year old history of the honor.
